At 71% of the earth’s surface, water covers the largest portion of the earth. Our own bodies consist of approximately the same percentage of water. Rightly so, water is the source of all life. However, only about 3.5% of the earth’s water is freshwater. Of that, a large part is in the form of ice at the North and South poles, permafrost and in glaciers. Only a small portion of the water is available as drinking water – and this isn’t always of the purest quality.
